Tasting Evening at Inter Comestibles

UKCRAFTBEERS.CH in association with Zurich Beer Tour are hosting a tasting evening at Inter Comestibles. Numbers are limited, and the evening will consist of a tasting of brews from Lock 81/ Mad Squirrel & Pope’s Yard.

ABOUT LOCK 81:

Lock 81 Brewery is named after the Grand Union Canal’s Batchworth Lock in Rickmansworth, a small town in London’s commuter belt. Here, in the kitchen of Henry’s flat, two friends spent years honing their skills on a homebrew kit, studying for brewing qualifications and dreaming of starting their own brewery. James eventually moved to Australia and after years of telling everyone he was going to start a brewery, in 2019 Henry decided it was time to do something about it.

LOCK 81 – Session (1.5dl)

Dry-hopped with Galaxy and Citra, this bitter, hazy, IPA has aromas of citrus and grapefruit. This is an easy-drinking session beer designed to pack in more flavour than its relatively low abv would suggest.

LOCK 81 – NEIPA (1.5dl)

Cloudy new England IPA, brewed using London fog yeast and a grain bill that includes flaked oats, this is a juicy NEIPA with a soft bitterness and rounded mouthfeel. Dry-hopped with two of the most exciting hops to be released in recent years (sabro and idaho 7) it has a complex range of aromas including tangerine, tropical fruit and coconut.

LOCK 81 – DIPA (1.5dl)

Clean and balanced Double IPA. A celebration of mosaic and Simcoe hops, with a simple grain bill of pale ale and pilsner malts. Expect big piney and tropical fruit notes.

ABOUT MAD SQUIRREL:

Every step of production, from recipe creation and raw material selection, through to brewing and fermentation, laboratory analysis and packaging is conducted in-house by our highly qualified brew team, which is led by our classically trained German Master Brewer.

MAD SQUIRREL – Post Run (1.5dl)

Showcasing a vast assortment of fresh fruits such as strawberry, mango and passionfruit, this single-hopped pale will really quench your thirst after a long, enduring run!

MAD SQUIRREL – Fragolina (1.5dl)

A small wild strawberry. This vivid sour has been fermented with a Kveik Norwegian farmhouse yeast to give a funky, fruit-forward profile that compliments the huge addition of fresh strawberry puree. Come and experience this refreshingly wild strawberry sensation.

MAD SQUIRREL – RIPA (1.5dl)

Take a journey with Yosemite, our new west coast RIPA. Travel through a vista of piney, resinous notes and heavy hints of citrus fruits with a bitter finish. Also, an addition of Rye gives it a dry and spicy edge. This truly iconic brew is our very own Californian dream!

ABOUT POPE’S YARD:

Pope’s Yard Brewery’s mission is to produce beautifully handcrafted ales using some traditional and some more avant-garde ingredients and processes. All our beers are natural, unfiltered and bottle-conditioned.

POPE’S YARD – Quartermaster (1.5dl)

Brewed with a touch of amber and crystal malt, British Bramling Cross and Australian Galaxy hops. Four malts, four hop additions and 4.4% make this one of their most popular traditional beers.

POPE’S YARD – Hibiscus Sour (1.5dl)

Finest Maris Otter malt, no bittering hops but an exotic aroma hop addition combine with the fantastic floral and berry notes from heaps of hibiscus flowers added into the fermenter. Refreshing, lush and tangy with a rosé hue. Just the thing on a sunny day.

POPE’S YARD – Club Hammer (1.5dl)

Chocolatey London Stout – Voted CAMRA’s ‘Hertfordshire Beer of the Year 2016’. Based on old style Stout Porters. Brewed with black malt, chocolate malt and roasted barley. Its sweetness and roast richness are balanced by bitterness and aroma from select British hops.
